One of the greatest pursuits in life, this emotion has evolved into a desired state of being with movies, policy and peoples’ entire lives being devoted to achieving it. The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network releases an annual World Happiness Report which measures the happiness of a country and its people based on income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust and generosity. Now there are even movements set up to champion the happiness of everyone here today and tomorrow. One such movement is Action for Happiness founded by Lord Richard Layard that seeks to help individuals and societies achieve happiness on a holistic level by pointing out that 50% of what makes us happy is within our control But why is happiness so desired? Aristotle once said: “Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” For something that you cannot see, touch or taste, its benefits are certainly felt in very tangible areas such as work productivity, financial planning and the building of harmonious societies. Happiness is the thing we want most for the people we love the most. That’s why it matters so much.
We believe happiness is what fuels our company’s growth and keeps us moving in the right direction. Action for Happiness lists out 10 keys that are fundamental to brighter days and a more fulfilling life:
Step 1: Giving Step 2: Relating Step 3: Exercising Step 4: Awareness Step 5: Trying out Step 6: Direction Step 7: Resilience Step 8: Emotions Step 9: Acceptance Step 10: Meaning Follow us on our Facebook page to see how Alien Logistics is attempting to improve the lives of those around us, one happy step at a time.

5/3/2018 0 Comments women in logisticsFor most people, the first impression of logistics is sweaty men in safety shoes. Suffering from an overly masculine image, the industry doesn’t exactly appear on the top of a little girl’s wish list of “what I want to be when I grow up”. On one hand, the industry still needs sweaty men for some of the heavy lifting especially in places where machines haven’t yet replaced human labour. But on the other, technology and the maturing of the industry has allowed for a wider variety of jobs in which women perform better, due to innate qualities like attention to details, a different approach to project management and in some cases, mothering– i.e. supply chain planning & management, marketing and IT solutions to name a few.
In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, we salute the outstanding women in logistics for showing that having female team players is an advantage and let’s press for progress today and every day.
